Digital prints

When I say digital prints, every thing you know about it is right but not what you will see in this post. Digital prints invaded, no not invaded let's say took a huge place in the world of fashion. Mary Katrantzou a Greek designer who started presenting her collection in London 3 seasons ago (that's her 4th collection) is amazing the entire world of fashion.
She started using digital prints ever since she presented her 1st collection and every time, since then, she is trying to bring something new and add something new to her patterns ever since every new thing can be digested very fast and then be considered a fad and stop being appreciated or concerned innovative if ones keep working on his ideas and squeezing his brain every time a bit more.

For this collection Mary got inspired from interior design photos; She'd been looking at the highly stylized seventies photography of Helmut Newton and Guy Bourdin. "With this collection, I wanted to put the room on the woman, rather than the woman in the room," Katrantzou said after the show.
McQueen had always used this technique and also H.Chalayan used it 10 years ago but no one did it the way Mary is doing it. Katrantzou said she worked in three dimensions for the first time while designing her prints, and there was an almost hallucinatory depth to the images she lifted from old issues of Architectural Digest and World of Interiors.

A Plus she added to her amazing collection was the "trompe l'oeil" effect by replacing the chandeliers by the necklaces and curtains in the original (prints) photos by real fabric extended to be a part of the dress or look itself and also wall sconces were reconfigured as necklaces, heavy ones.

The photos will show you more of what I am talking about but definitely Mary Katrantzou is a designer to be taken into consideration now.
More after the jump
